Why hire a birth photographer?
The photos from your labor and delivery are a beautiful reminder of one of the most important days of your life. Allowing a photographer to handle this important task will not only free up Dad or your other support person to be more available to you during your labor and delivery, but it will also ensure that his or her participation is captured on film. Dad won’t have to worry about taking photos, so he’ll be better able to enjoy the moment right along with you. He can be a more active participant on a day worthy of documenting!
All births include time, travel, up to 7 hours of delivery day coverage and anywhere between 100-150 edited images in black and white and some color.
I typically arrive at the hospital or birthing center when you are between 6-7 cm dilated for first time moms and sometimes sooner for mom who already have children. That will give me plenty of time to capture detail shots of the hospital, hospital room, and the moments leading up to the birth of your baby.
In order to book me as your birth photographer, we will schedule a time to meet and go over what I do during a typical birth. It’s also a great opportunity to go over your birth plan and ask me any questions you might have. It also gives me a chance to introduce myself in person before the big day!
What if I am having a c-section…
Every birth story is worth photographing. While it depends on the hospital you’re delivering at whether I can be in the operating room with you or not, there are still many important moments I’m able to capture before, during and after your delivery.
Additional products are available, such as prints, birth announcements, canvas wraps and bound books with images from your birth.
